Today I welcome a special guest to Trina Michelle House: it’s my husband, Dr TMH writing about our recent camping trip to Echuca, Victoria, Australia) :
Been keen on taking the family to explore the Murray River for some time – but it can be stiffling hot over the summer months, and didn’t want to end up in a park full of river hoons with jet-ski’s and racing boats…..
April turned out to be the perfect time to head to ‘the River’. We packed up the camper and headed 3 hours drive north of Melbourne to Echuca-Moama. Maiden’s Inn Holiday Park was the destination. We had a huge ensuite site at the quiet end of the park – just what we’d hoped for. The riverside powered sites also looked good – didn’t have ensuites, but had brilliant views over the Murray, where you can sit and watch the sun set over the river.
What we really enjoyed doing……
Exploring the Murray River – on the Emmylou Paddlesteamer on a balmy autumn afternoon
Great place to stay – the park and our ensuite site at Maidens Inn Holiday Park were some of the best we have stayed at.
Amazing weather – mid 20’s sunshine in April was very comfortable.
Crazy mix of ye olde and new chic on Echuca’s High Street cafés and shops – enjoyed the atmosphere, coffee and milkshakes of Shebani’s Tastes of the Mediterranean. Plenty more to choose from.
Other things to do for next time……
Plenty more cafés and restaurants along High Street, and more in downtown Echuca.
Dinner and lunch cruises on the paddlesteamers.
Walking tracks along the river in and around Echuca-Moama.
Wine tasting at some of the outlets in Echuca or go exploring out of town.
Head north to Barmah National Park and Millewa National Park.
The outdoors is not the natural habitat of Trina Michelle. She really enjoys these trips and the family time, but has allowed her other half the opportunity to write this blog. (She will be posting about how she does camping very soon!)
Hope you enjoyed it.
