Today I am giving you my “The Magnolia Story” book review. When I saw that my friend had this book my eyes lit up! She kindly lent me “The Magnolia Story” and I couldn’t wait to read it.
If you are not familiar with Chip and Joanna Gaines and their reality home improvement TV show called “Fixer Upper” then you need to watch this show because you will soon fall in love with them and their style too. On their show they help families go house-hunting and find the worst house in the best street (with plenty left in the budget for renovations). Once the house has been selected, then Chip and Jo work their magic. They quickly get to work drastically changing the house, making it functional and beautiful. At the end of the show, the family is re-introduced to the house and of course you would have to be crazy not to really love what the house has become.
Chip and Jo really listen to the family’s needs and plan the changes to the house accordingly. Their warmth and passion for their work really shines through and I really love it when they add special touches and get unique pieces made to make the family’s house their home.
So now you know who Chip and Joanna Gaines are. “The Magnolia Story” is the story of their lives and their family (they have four children and actually now have number five on the way) and their journey to where they are today. When I watch their show I assume that life is pretty perfect and smooth sailing for them, but of course they have their struggles like the rest of us. It hasn’t been an easy road for them and they are a fine example of a Christian marriage. Through the hard times they have relied on each other and on God.
In case you can’t tell, I really enjoyed this book! It was very interesting to read and discover more about this beautiful couple. It was also inspiring. Their attitudes to life and its challenges are worth reading about.
If you like the show Fixer Upper, you will love this book. If you have never heard of these bods or their show, but love a good love story (it’s not soppy!) with plenty of humour, you will love this book. If you love to read about people’s journey through life, you will love this book.
